DECEMBER 2020

I have been waiting and waiting to get back to my studio in France but it still looks unlikely in the near future. Even if the government implements the test system and shorter quarantine for travellers that they are planning, it would be too expensive for a short visit so I think we will have to wait until the new year when we could come over for an extended period of time. 

I would certainly like to be in the beautiful Baie de Somme to open my studio for Easter as I have a lot of new paintings to share.

For those of you who have asked to visit my studio in Noyelles in order to choose a painting to give as a Christmas present or for those who need to pick up a painting, my friend Mireille has offered to do an

Open Studio by appointment for the weekend 19/20th December.

I have been painting a lot but producing less. During the confinement when one can’t go out and all galleries are closed and exhibitions cancelled, there is less pressure to produce and more time to experiment and play. I need to keep working, as my studio is my sanctuary and asylum. I think it is the same for everyone. …….I believe that we all need to do something creative to centre ourselves and meditate whether it is drawing ,painting , dancing, cooking ,gardening or a craft in order to keep our sanity and our spirits up. It brings us back to the present and stops repetitive habitual thoughts. We often think of our physical fitness and exercise but neglect our creative and emotional needs which are as important.

I said to Pete, “I wonder if I will have the self discipline to continue painting after we have retired “to which he replied……” I do hope so because you are I possible to live with if you don’t”!  

Well, I think that only leaves me to say

KEEP SAFE until we meet again and I will keep in touch and post new paintings on my website and Instagram

Je souhaitais revenir en France mais il semble que rien ne changera dans un futur proche.

Même si le gouvernement prévoit de mettre en place des tests et une quarantaine réduite pour les  voyageurs, cela reste compliqué pour un court séjour. Nous allons donc devoir attendre la nouvelle année pour profiter plus longuement de la Baie de Somme.

J’aimerais pouvoir rouvrir mon atelier de Noyelles à Pâques car j’ai beaucoup de nouvelles peintures à présenter.

Pour ceux d’entre vous qui voulaient me rendre visite pour choisir des peintures à offrir à Noël ou ceux qui veulent récupérer un tableau, mon amie Mireille ma proposé d’ouvrir mon atelier sur rendez-vous le WE du 19/20 décembre

Pendant ce confinement j’ai beaucoup peint mais produit moins. Le fait de ne pas pouvoir sortir, que les galeries soient fermées, les expositions annulées, diminuent la pression pour produire et donne plus de temps pour faire des essais et s’amuser. J’ai besoin de continuer à travailler car mon atelier est mon refuge et mon asile. 

Je crois que c’est la même chose pour tout le monde, nous avons besoin de faire quelque chose de créatif qu’il s’agisse de dessiner, peindre, danser, cuisiner, jardiner, bricoler ou réaliser un ouvrage, pour conserver notre santé mentale et notre esprit en éveil.

Nous pensons d’abord à l’exercice physique mais négligeons nos besoins créatifs et affectifs qui sont aussi importants.

J’ai dit à mon mari Peter « Si je suis assez auto-disciplinée, j’aimerais continuer à peindre après que nous ayons pris notre retraite » ce à quoi il m’a répondu « J’espère bien car tu seras invivable si tu ne le fais pas…»

Je n’ai plus qu’à vous dire prenez soin de vous jusqu’à ce qu’on se retrouve. Je resterai en contact et mettrai en ligne de nouvelles peintures sur mon site ou Instagram.
